Pushed out to sea: Story Spheres / by James Boyce

Narrative, documentary and storytelling have a new platform.

This year we pushed out to sea an interactive platform that allowed people to combine 360 degree images and audio. It’s a simple concept that combines the storytelling tools of words and pictures with a little digital magic.

We made Story Spheres to see if we could. Story Spheres is about letting you take your stories as far as your imagination and your camera will go.

Work with Cardboard

Make your stories the ultimate immersive experience using Google Cardboard. Immerse yourself in digital storytelling by selecting cardboard mode.

Click to play / Ambient / Synced Audio

Users can interact through click to play or simply listen to ambient audio. We have created several methods for you to be able to place and control your audio files. From placing audio anywhere within the scene, changing its distance and controlling the volume level of each piece of audio.

Mobile and Desktop experience

Story Spheres uses experimental technology and is supported on iOS 8, Android v5 and desktop Chrome, Safari and Firefox browsers. We also have an Android application.

Get in and have a go. Create Story Spheres and submit them to the public gallery for everyone to enjoy your creations.  We think the opportunities are endless. Story Spheres is hopefully about letting you take your stories as far as your imagination and your camera will go.
